I'm not really sure what's going on in this head of mine...but I'm keeping pen and notepad handy!
Called to Serve Both God and Country
This journey will be long…
At times, a little rough
But, we’ll find the peace to make it through
For in God’s name we trust!
When the fear of the unknown
Grips our hearts and minds
May we find our strength in Christ
To help us we carry on
When we think it’s more than we can bear
And we’ve fallen to our knees
Please pick us up and dust us off
And fill us with Your peace
When we feel our hearts can take no more
And this journey steals our joy
We know You’ll quickly bring us back
To what we’re fighting for!
(Above is from my last post that has the pictures)
Their Faces Tell A Story
I see them walking to and fro
They look a lot like me
I wonder if their Soldier left
And where he had to be
It's not an easy thing, you know
For everywhere I go
I see a Soldier standing near
Or a loved one all alone
Our faces tell a story
No matter what's about
'Cause everywhere we go these days
Our hearts are torn apart
Worlds Apart
It's one a.m. where I lay
And half past noon for him
Our worlds are very different now
Though our hearts still beat as one
While my day's just beginning
His is winding down
I spend my waking hours
Praying he is safe and sound
God, help me to remember
When I'm tired and all alone
There's more to life than I can see
And one day he'll be home

God bless you during this time. I am without my sweet chaplain (husband) right now, but he is training- and not in harms way. Please continue to blog, I know it is hard, I have fallen short while my man is away, but I do appreciate your words.
It's precious that you've posted these. Especially while your emotions are fresh, and your heart is aching. It is a special thing to channel your cry to the Lord in verse. Beauty from pain. King David did it, and was a man after God's own heart.
Be encouraged, sister, that you have the Father's tender attention, and souls will be added to the book of life because of your and your husband's sacrifice. Certainly not an easy mission, but an eternal weight of unparishable glory is more than worth it!
Thankful to God for you and others like you,
Holly
Laura, my very smart, very sarcastic husband has several blogs, and Impeach the Huckster is one of them. I think he wrote this weird piece to combat a troll, so....
I'm working on getting my own blog spot especially for when he FINALLY joins up, but till I learn to manuver....see I'm pathetic when it comes to dealing with electronic devices! Somewhat terrified of them, actually. So, suffice to say, computer work is not my strong suit! Any tips would be welcomed!
I'm sad that you're hurting, Laura. I'm also anxiously awaiting to see what the Lord will do in your life. Not like somebody waiting for their reality show fix, but that waiting in wonder at the surety of God's action. I so love how the Lord molds and fashions us to be more like Him! I absolutely MARVEL at the work of His hands! Especilly in the lives of those obedient to His voice.
May we keep our imperfect and so very limited eyes on Him while He is preparing us for an eternity in His presence!
Till then, may the Holy Spirit He placed within you as a promise of His faithfulness, comfort you, and cause you to be at peace with whatever He wills; because it is His glory, and not our own, that we are striving for!
Pressing through
alongside you
through deepest darkest night
our hearts be tempered
by His grace
our eyes gain eternal sight
As we press toward faith
our doubt desolves,
as we hope
our heart secures,
and love being greatest of the three,
brings life sure to endure.
That was just for you, Laura. A present to encourage you.
You're not alone-
Holly
I am going through some tough things rith now. I am not going through anything as tough and trying as you and your family are. I thought I would let you know that your blog is a blessing. I really needed to be reminded of the following verse. . . Philippians 4:6-7: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Beautiful! How are you doing? You are in my daily prayers. Jeremy comes home in 11 days!!! Hard to believe its been a year since I have hugged him or touched him. Praying your time will pass quickly as well. -blessings.
Dear Laura,
I'm working on a prayer book written for military personnel, by military personnel and am hoping you can help me in spreading the word and gathering entries. I have an information sheet on the project which I can email to you at your request. As the mother of an Army National Guardsman serving in Iraq, I deeply appreciate the service of our military chaplains. Please thank your husband - and son - for me! Wishing you many blessings, Marge Fenelon (marge@margefenelon.com)
I'm just wondering if you could tell me a little bit about your husband's decision to be a Chaplain- were you married before he went into the military? My husband was in the military before we met, and is now in school to be a pastor. He is thinking about being an active duty chaplain, and to be honest it makes me feel a bit quesy!
He wouldn't do it if I wasn't in agreement with him though (because before we "got serious" I told him I was not the right person for him if he planned on going back in to the military!). Any words of wisdom? Thanks!
